Australian dollar lifts on jobs data

The Australian dollar rose slightly on the release of the labour force data for April from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.?

At 1429 AEST, before the release, the Australian dollar was trading at 101.89 US cents.

At 1434 AEST, after the news, the Australian dollar was trading at 102.23 US cents.

Official data showed the unemployment rate fell back from 5.6 per cent in March to 5.5 per cent in April.?
